The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
