The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And shade extended 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
