The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virginal, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
