Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the dawn 1 And the Ten Nights, 2 The multiple and the one, 3 And by the night when it departeth, 4 Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth? 5 Hast thou not seen how thy Lord did with Ad, 6 [With] Iram - who had lofty pillars, 7 the like of which was never created in the land, 8 (Also consider how He dealt with) the Thamud, who carved their houses out of the rocks in the valley. 9 And the mighty Pharaoh 10 [It was they] who transgressed all bounds of equity all over their lands, 11 And increased therein the corruption. 12 Then their Lord unloosed upon them the lash of chastisement. 13 for, indeed, your Sustainer is ever on the watch! 14 As for the human being, when his Lord tests him, honors him, and grants him bounty, he says, "God has honored me". 15 But when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), "My Lord hath humiliated me!" 16 Nay, nay! but ye honour not the orphans! 17 nor do you urge one another to feed the needy. 18 Why do you take away the inheritance of others indiscriminately 19 and why do you have an excessive love of riches? 20 Nay, but when the earth is ground to atoms, grinding, grinding, 21 and your Lord comes with the angels, rank upon rank, 22 And on that Day hell will be brought [within sight]; on that Day man will remember [all that he did and failed to do]: but what will that remembrance avail him? 23 He will say, "Oh, would that I had provided beforehand for my life!" 24 None punisheth as He will punish on that day! 25 And His bonds will be such as none (other) can bind. 26 (To the righteous soul will be said:) "O (thou) soul, in (complete) rest and satisfaction! 27 "Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him! 28 Enter among My servants 29 Enter then My garden." 30
