The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and banana trees, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the right. 38
