The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water poured out 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
