The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they differ? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
