The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ I swear by this city, Makkah - 1 And you are free (from sin, to punish the enemies of Islam on the Day of the conquest) in this city (Makkah). 2 or by the great father and his wonderful son (Abraham and Ishmael) 3 We have indeed created man surrounded by hardships. 4 Deemest he that none will overpower him? 5 He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." 6 What, does he think none has seen him? 7 Did We not grant him two eyes, 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 and shown him the two paths? 10 But he has not broken through the difficult pass. 11 What could let you know what the height is! 12 (It is:) freeing the bondman; 13 Or the feeding on a day of hunger. 14 to an orphaned relative 15 Or the poor in distress; 16 Then he became one of those who believed, and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 And (as for) those who disbelieve in our communications, they are the people of the left hand. 19 Over them shall be Fire closing round. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
