He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 To him you give attention. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And hath fear, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
