O you apostles, eat things that are clean, and do things that are good. We are surely cognisant of what you do. 51 And verily, this community of yours is one single community, since I am the Sustainer of you all: remain, then, conscious of Me! 52 But then they divided up their order into different creeds, each section rejoicing in what it had come to have. 53 Leave them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Do they think that We are helping them by giving them children and property? 55 We are hastening to reward them for good deeds? No. They do not comprehend. 56 Those who tremble with fear of their Lord; 57 Who believe in their Lord's revelations, 58 Who do not associate any one with their Lord, 59 And they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful because they will be returning to their Lord - 60 It is those who hasten to good deeds, and they outstrip [others] therein. 61 We do not impose on any soul what is beyond its capacity. We have the Book which speaks the truth and no injustice will be done to it. 62 In fact, the hearts of the unbelievers are in the dark because of their ignorance of real virtue; they act against it. 63 until - after We shall have taken to task, through suffering, those from among them who [now] are lost in the pursuit of pleasures - they cry out in [belated] supplication. 64 "Put a stop to your groaning now! Surely no help shall be provided to you from Us. 65 Time and again were My messages conveyed unto you, but [every time] you would turn about on your heels 66 "In arrogance: talking nonsense about the (Qur'an), like one telling fables by night." 67 Should they not think upon the saying? Or, did anything come upon them that had not come upon their ancient forefathers? 68 Or, is it that they recognised not their apostle, and so of him they become deniers? 69 Or they say, “He is afflicted by a demon”; in fact he brought the Truth to them, and most of them dislike the Truth. 70 Had the truth followed their fancies, the heavens, the earth, and all who live in them would have surely been corrupted. No, We brought them their Remembrance; but from their Remembrance they turn away. 71 Or, do you ask a tribute from them? Your Lord's tribute is better. He is the Best of providers. 72 And verily, thou callest them onto a straight way 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are deviating from that Way. 74 ۞ If We took compassion on them and removed the affliction they are in, they would only wander lost in confusion. 75 And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus] 76 Until, when We open for them the gate of severe punishment, then lo! They will be plunged into destruction with deep regrets, sorrows and in despair. 77
