Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a sublime garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
