Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By oath of the (particular) dawn. 1 and the ten nights! 2 by the even and the odd, 3 And by oath of the night when it recedes 4 Is there not an evidence in this for those who have sense? 5 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad - 6 (And) the tall giants of Iram? 7 the like of which has never been created in the land, 8 and Thamood, who hollowed the rocks in the valley, 9 (Also consider the people of) the Pharaoh who victimized people by placing them on the stake, 10 They were tyrants in the land 11 and brought about great corruption therein: 12 Wherefore thy Lord poured on them the scourge of His torment. 13 Your Lord is certainly in wait. 14 As for man, whenever his Lord tries him, and honours him, and blesses him, then he says, 'My Lord has honoured me.' 15 But when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), "My Lord hath humiliated me!" 16 Nay! but you do not honor the orphan, 17 nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, 18 And you devour (others') inheritance greedily, 19 and you have a love of wealth which can never be satisfied. 20 Nay! when the earth is made to crumble to pieces, 21 and [the majesty of] thy Sustainer stands revealed, as well as [the true nature of] the angels; rank upon rank? 22 and Gehenna is brought out, upon that day man will remember; and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say, "Oh, would that I had provided beforehand for my life!" 24 Upon that day none shall chastise as He chastises, 25 and none can bind with bonds like His. 26 Serene soul, 27 return to your Lord wellpleased, wellpleasing. 28 "Enter you, then, among My honoured slaves, 29 "Yea, enter thou My Heaven! 30
