۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;- 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 Yet they hasten to follow in their footsteps. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
