The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its midmorning, 1 And by oath of the moon when it follows the sun 2 And the day when it shows it, 3 by the night when it covers the earth with darkness, 4 By the heaven and Who built it, 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 And indeed failed is the one who covered it in sin. 10 Thamud (people) denied (their Prophet) through their transgression (by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism, and by following polytheism, and by committing every kind of sin). 11 when that most hapless wretch from among them rushed forward [to commit his evil deed,] 12 although God's apostle had told them, "It is a she-camel belonging to God, so let her drink [and do her no harm]!" 13 In response they belied him, and hamstrung the she camel – so Allah put ruin over them because of their sins and flattened their dwellings. 14 And He (Allah) feared not the consequences thereof. 15
