Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 it is not a jest. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
