The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And your clothing purify 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
