Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins. 5 He asks, “When will be the Day of Resurrection?” 6 So when the sight becomes dazed, 7 The moon eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 No! There is no refuge. 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and (what he) put off. 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 and then, behold, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 and neglect the life to come. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 And on that Day there shall be scowling faces, 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 By no means! When it cometh up to the collar-bone. 26 and when it is asked: "Could any magician save him now?"; 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 and when leg is intertwined with leg, 29 Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. 30
