The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of later ages, 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And shade extended 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
