The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 But save him who fears 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
