So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us). 139 When he left towards the laden ship. 140 Then he joined the lots, and was of the condemned. 141 Then a (big) fish swallowed him and he had done an act worthy of blame. 142 Now had he not been of those that glorify God, 143 he would have tarried in its belly until the day they shall be raised; 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a desert shore while he was sick; 145 And We caused to grow up for him a gourdplant. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand men or more, 147 and they believed in him: so We let them live in ease for a while. 148 Now ask thou them: are there for thy Lord daughters and for them sons? 149 Did We create the angels as females the while they witnessed?” 150 Now surely it is of their own lie that they say: 151 'Allah has begotten' They are truly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters over sons? 153 What aileth you? How judge ye? 154 What, will you not remember? 155 Do you have any clear authority for such claims? 156 Bring your Book, if what you say is true! 157 And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment-Seat)! 158 Exaltations to Allah above what they describe, 159 Except His chosen creatures who do not. 160 So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship, 161 Can lead (any) into temptation concerning Allah, 162 except for he who shall roast in Hell. 163 Of us there is none but hath a station assigned. 164 "And we are truly those who stand in rows, 165 And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah." 166 And surely they used to say: 167 "If only we had a tradition [to this effect] from our forebears, 168 we would surely have been God's chosen servants," 169 But they disbelieved in it; soon they shall know! 170 Our word had already been given before to Our votaries, the apostles, -- 171 that they shall receive Our help 172 And verily Our host! they are to be overcome. 173 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from those [who deny the truth,] 174 And (then) see them, so they too shall see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 When it lights in their courtyard, how evil will be the morning of them that are warned! 177 Leave them alone for a while, 178 And see, for they are going to see. 179 Glorified be your Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they attribute unto Him! 180 And Peace on the messengers! 181 And all praise is to Allah, the Lord Of The Creation. 182
