The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Most Beneficent (Allah)! 1 Bestowed the Qur'an, 2 He created man. 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 The sun and the moon are in a reckoning. 5 And the grasses and the trees bow (to Him) in adoration. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels, 14 And the jinn did He create of smokeless fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 [He is] the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunrise, and the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunset. 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain you men and jinn then deny? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 And His are the ships reared aloft in the sea like mountains. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
