NAY, but consider the moon! 32 and the night when it retreats 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 concerning the sinners, 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
