The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
