Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And cups put in place 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
