We sent to the people of 'Ad their brother Hud, who said: "O my people, worship God; you have no other god but He. (As for the idols,) you are only inventing lies. 50 My people, I do not ask any reward for what I have preached to you. No one can give me my reward except my Creator. Will you then not take heed? 51 O My people! ask forgiveness of your Lord, then repent toward Him; He will send the heaven upon you pouring, and He will add you strength upon your strength, and turn not away as guilty ones. 52 They say: O Hud! thou hast not brought us an evidence, and we are not going to abandon our gods for thy saying, nor are we going to be believers in thee. 53 We say nothing, but that one of our gods has smitten thee with some evil.' He said, 'I call God to witness; and witness you, that I am quit of that you associate 54 "Other gods as partners! so scheme (your worst) against me, all of you, and give me no respite. 55 Verily I rely on Allah, my Lord and your Lord; no moving creature is there but He holdeth it by its forelock; verily my Lord is on the straight path. 56 But if you turn back, then indeed I have delivered to you the message with which I have been sent to you, and my Lord will bring another people in your place, and you cannot do Him any harm; surely my Lord is the Preserver of all things. 57 And when Our command came, We saved Hud and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us; and We saved them from a harsh punishment. 58 And that was 'Aad, who rejected the signs of their Lord and disobeyed His messengers and followed the order of every obstinate tyrant. 59 And they were pursued by a curse in this world and (so they will be) on the Day of Resurrection. No doubt! Verily, 'Ad disbelieved in their Lord. So away with 'Ad, the people of Hud. 60
