The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing exalting. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgins. 36 chastely amorous, 37 for those on the Right, 38
