He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him you give attention. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and who has fear of God, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
