The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 by the night swarming, 17 and brightening morning, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 where then are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
