The tribe of Thamud denied the Noble Messengers. 23 And they said: a mere human being from amongst us, and single! shall we follow him! verily then we should fall in error and madness. 24 Has the [Divine] message been revealed to him alone of all of us? No, he is a boastful liar." 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 for We are [going to] send the she-camel as a trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And declare thou unto them that water hath been divided between them; every drinking shall be by turns. 28 Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, 29 How terrible was My punishment and warning. 30 Surely We sent upon them a single cry, so they were like the dry fragments of trees which the maker of an enclosure collects. 31 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 32 Lot's people also gave the lie to the warnings, 33 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn 34 Thus do We recompense the grateful ones. 35 He had warned them of Our assault but they disputed the warnings. 36 Even his guests they had solicited of him; so We obliterated their eyes, saying, 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 37 In the morning early there came upon them a settled chastisement: 38 "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
