A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif, Lam, Mim, Sad. 1 [This is] a Book revealed to you, [O Muhammad] - so let there not be in your breast distress therefrom - that you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers. 2 Follow what has been revealed to you by your Lord, and do not follow any other lord apart from Him. Yet little do you care to remember. 3 How many a township have We destroyed! As a raid by night, or while they slept at noon, Our terror came unto them. 4 Then naught was their cry when Our violence came upon them save that they said: verily we have been the wrong-doers. 5 Most certainly then We will question those to whom (the apostles) were sent, and most certainly We will also question the apostles; 6 Then We shall narrate to them with knowledge the whole account. For surely, We were not away from them. 7 And true will be the weighing on that Day; and those whose weight [of good deeds] is heavy in the balance - it is they, they who shall attain to a happy state; 8 And as for those whose scale will be light, they are those who will lose their ownselves (by entering Hell) because they denied and rejected Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 9 YEA, INDEED, [O men,] We have given you a [bountiful] place on earth, and appointed thereon means of livelihood for you: [yet] how seldom are you grateful! 10
