The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
