Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by this city (Makkah); 1 And you, [O Muhammad], are free of restriction in this city - 2 and by parent and offspring, 3 that We have created man into a life of toil and trial. 4 Deemest he that none will overpower him? 5 And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth: 6 Does man think that no one saw him? 7 Did We not make two eyes for him? 8 And a tongue, and a pair of lips?- 9 Have We not shown him the ways of good and evil? 10 But he did not venture to scale the difficult steep. 11 And what have you understood, what the valley is! 12 (It is) to free a slave, 13 or, in a day of famine, the feeding of 14 An orphan near of kin, 15 Or the poor in distress; 16 and being, withal, of those who have attained to faith, and who enjoin upon one another patience in adversity, and enjoin upon one another compassion. 17 Those who do so are the people of the right hand, 18 And (as for) those who disbelieve in our communications, they are the people of the left hand. 19 [with] fire closing in upon them. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
