A numerous company from among the first, 39 and many from the later generations. 40 But those of the left hand -- how those of the left hand -- 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 and the shadow of a smoking blaze 43 Neither cool nor beneficial. 44 They had been affluent before, 45 And used to persist in the awful sin. 46 And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? 47 "(We) and our fathers of old?" 48 (Muhammad), say, "All the ancient and later generations 49 "They will all be gathered together - on the appointed time of the known day." 50 Then you people who had gone astray and rejected the Truth 51 you will indeed have to taste of the tree of deadly fruit, 52 and you shall fill therewith your bellies 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 And drink as drinks the thirsty camel. 55 Such will be their dwelling on the Day of Judgment. 56 We created you, then why do you believe not? 57 Have ye seen that which ye emit? 58 Do you create a child out of it, or are We its creators? 59 It was We who decreed death among you. Why, then, do ye not reflect? 62 Have you considered the seeds you till? 63 Is it you who cultivate it, or is it We Who develop it? 64 If We so pleased, We could turn your harvest into chaff. Then you would start lamenting, 65 'We are debt-loaded; 66 Aye! we are deprived! 67 Did you cast a good look at the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it to come down from the clouds - or are We the cause of its coming down? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Consider the fire that you strike and get by friction. 71 Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers? 72 We have made it as a reminder of hell and as a utility for travellers in the jungle. 73 Therefor (O Muhammad), praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous. 74
