The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the sun and its midmorning, 1 And the moon as she follows in his wake, 2 And by oath of the day when it reveals it 3 by the night when it covers the earth with darkness, 4 And by oath of the heaven and by oath of Him Who made it. 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 And by Nafs (Adam or a person or a soul, etc.), and Him Who perfected him in proportion; 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow, 9 And indeed he fails who corrupts his ownself (i.e. disobeys what Allah has ordered by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism or by following polytheism, etc. or by doing every kind of evil wicked deeds). 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 When the most wicked among them stood up in defiance. 12 then the Messenger of God said to them, 'The She-camel of God; let her drink!' 13 But they gave him the lie, and cruelly slaughtered her - whereupon their Sustainer visited them with utter destruction for this their sin, destroying them all alike: 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
