The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
