Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And cups put in place 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
