The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I CALL TO witness the sky (bespangled) with the signs of the Zodiac, 1 by the promised day, 2 and by the witness and what is witnessed: 3 That accursed are the men of the trench 4 Of fire fuel-fed, 5 Lo! [With glee do] they contemplate that [fire,] 6 and they were witnesses of what they did to the believers 7 And they ill-treated them for no other reason than that they believed in Allah, Exalted in Power, Worthy of all Praise!- 8 and the One to whom belongs the heavens and the earth. God is the Witness of all things. 9 Verily, those who put into trial the believing men and believing women (by torturing them and burning them), and then do not turn in repentance, (to Allah), will have the torment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the burning Fire. 10 As for those who believed and acted righteously, theirs shall be Gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great triumph. 11 The vengeance of God is terribly severe. 12 He it is Who creates for the first time and He it is Who will create again, 13 And He only is the Oft Forgiving, the Beloved of His bondmen. 14 The Lord of the glorious Throne, 15 Doer of what He will. 16 Hath there come unto thee the story of the hosts 17 of Pharaoh and Thamud? 18 And yet, they who are bent on denying the truth persist in giving it the lie: 19 Allah encompasses them all from behind. 20 Nay, this is a Glorious Qur'an, 21 [Inscribed] in a Preserved Slate. 22
