The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and banana trees, 29 and extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And carpets raised. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
