I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Except those on the right side. 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 From the guilty. 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
