The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
