The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 But save him who fears 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
Almighty Allah's Truth.
