The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the star when it plunges, 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It [the Quran] is nothing but revelation sent down to him. 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 standing poised at the highest point on the horizon, 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 For indeed he saw him at a second descent, 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 And another, the third (goddess), Manat? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 That is indeed an unfair division! 22 These are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Does man imagine that whatever he wishes for is right for him? 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25
