The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
