Nay! By the moon 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 about the guilty ones: 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
