The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Beneficent (God) 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 He has created man: 3 and taught him its pronunciation. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 And Allah has raised the sky; and He has set the balance. 7 Do not transgress the scales. 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 And grain chaffed and other food. 12 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 13 He created man of fermented clay dried tinkling hard like earthen ware, 14 and He created the jinn of a smokeless fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. 19 Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress: 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 To Him only belong the sailing ships, raised above the sea like hills. 24 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 25
