He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 you attended to him, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted, pure. 14 In the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
