The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 And your clothing purify 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
