The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 And the lofty roof. 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
