He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
