The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 arise and give warning! 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 And your clothing purify 4 And pollution shun. 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked round; 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
